GigaMedia, Register.com to Provide Domains to Taiwan and Greater China


📅 - GigaMedia Limited (http://www.giga.net.tw), a multi-technology provider in Taiwan of broadband Internet access services and broadband content for Chinese markets, has signed an agreement with Register.com a provider of global domain name registration and Internet services, to offer full service domain registration to Internet users in Taiwan and Greater China.

GigaMedia will be joining Register.com's Global Partner Network, whichprovides full-service, customizable domain registration services to ISPs,Web hosting companies, telcos and other online businesses. In accordancewith the terms of the revenue-sharing deal, Register.com is providingGigaMedia's registration services for generic top level domains (.com, .org,.net), including names with Chinese characters, as well as over two dozencountry code top level domains. All domain search and registration serviceswill be processed in realtime via a localized Register.com interface,available at GigaMedia's Web site at domains.gigigaga.com.
Raymond Chang, CEO of GigaMedia said, "Register.com allows us to expand ourproduct offerings and further differentiate our services without set-upcosts. While other domain services are available in our market,Register.com's service enables customers to use Chinese characters combinedwith a .com domain name. The service also fits well with our premium ADSLproduct, which enables corporate customers to develop their own Web sitesvia eight fixed-IP addresses. We intend to bundle Register.com servicestogether with Web site building tools going forward."
Register.com will provide domain registration services to GigaMedia throughits My.register.com program, which uses Register.com's proprietary BestSRSdomain registration and management solution. My.register.com partners canaccess Register.com's entire suite of registration services, from WHOISqueries to online domain management. Using the BestSRS solution, a GigaMediacustomer can seamlessly connect Register.com registration capability to itsown front end to match the "look and feel" of its Web site.
As a Register.com partner, GigaMedia can now launch specialized country codedomain registration. Registrations can be processed across over 28 countrycodes, including generic-use country codes such as .ws, .cc, .tv and .fm(intended for use in the radio industry).
